Safeguarding Policy

Modbury Players aims to keep children and vulnerable adults safe

To that end Modbury Players will:

  • Ensure all members of the committee have read and understood this Policy
  • Ensure the Code of Conduct is shared with all members of the committee and made available on the website
  • Provide suitable changing areas for the cast and provide separate changing areas for men

Modbury Players will recognise and respond appropriately to any allegations or disclosures of abuse or harm and will do this by appointing a suitably qualified Safeguarding Officer from the Committee.  Any allegations or concerned will be referred to the Safeguarding Officer to manage and onward report as appropriate.

Information sharing

Timely information sharing is key to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and must be immediately reported to the Safeguarding Officer and not disclosed to anyone else.

Confidentiality

Never promise a child or vulnerable adult that you will keep the things they’re telling you a secret. Explain that you need to share what they’ve told you with someone who will be able to help.

If a child or young person needs confidential help and advice direct them to Childline. Calls to 0800 1111 are free and children can also contact Childline online.

Procedures to be followed if there is a Safeguarding issue

If you have a concern that a child or vulnerable adult involved in a production is subject to abuse outside of the production, take your concerns to the nominated Safeguarding Officer for the Modbury Players and explain the nature of your concern.

If you have a concern that the behaviour of an individual involved in a Modbury Players production is posing a safeguarding issue, take your concerns to the nominated Safeguarding Officer.

Safeguarding Training

Safeguarding training will be provided for all Modbury Payers Committee Members.
